Raye grew up with limited resources, guided by a strong, crafty maternal figure, and developed a deep interest in interior design, architecture, and graphic design. She played the clarinet, trained in martial arts, and eventually led classes at several Taekwondo schools.
When it came time for college, Raye stood at a crossroads: art or business. She chose business, hoping to build a strong foundation to support her creative passions.
Throughout her education, she leaned into costume design as a form of self-expression. Constantly on the move within the Portland area and driven by resourcefulness, she became a master of innovation—making the most of what she had. This experience rooted her in the values of up-cycling, sustainability, and functional design that flows with intention.
After graduating, Raye was introduced to the art community at Lightning in a Bottle (LIB)—a transformative moment. Immersed in this new world, she began weaving her traditional Taekwondo practice with these newly discovered disciplines, all while channeling principles of feng shui into her creative concepts.
As a mixed media artist, LIB opened Raye’s eyes to endless possibilities. One spark came from a face painting artist who went off-script and created a custom design for her on her favorite holiday, Saint Patrick’s Day. That moment of surprise and individuality ignited her curiosity and a willingness to explore. She dove into pour painting, curated intentional events, experimented with hair and face painting, played with acrylics, vision boards, and created pop-up installation art—all with a joyful sense of discovery.
In 2024, Raye’s path shifted dramatically. After investing 15 years in the corporate world of the tech trade consortium, a painful relationship breakup cracked something open. Art became her lifeline. She immersed herself in color and emotion theory to process the heartbreak. When it came time to move, she turned her space into an art gallery. When she had to move again, she made another bold choice: to realign her life and values by founding Radical Raye.
Radical Raye is more than an art studio—it’s a living art piece that tells Raye’s story and invites others to discover their own.
Now, as an art facilitator, Raye believes deeply in the power of creativity. She helps others unlock their personal power, express themselves authentically, and transform their lives through art.
